BeforeAfterWhat Powder Coating Actually Is
Powder coating is not paint. It is a dry, electrostatically charged powder that we spray onto the bare metal of your wheel. The powder clings to every surface because the wheel is grounded and the powder is charged — it wraps the rim evenly, even in the pockets and around the lug holes where a brush can never reach.
The process has four steps. First, we strip the old finish completely. Second, we media blast the wheel down to bare, clean metal so the powder has something to bond to. Third, we apply the powder coat electrostatically. Fourth, the wheel goes into the oven and cures at high heat. That heat is what makes the difference — it melts the powder into a single, continuous skin that bonds chemically to the metal.
That chemical bond is why powder coating beats liquid paint. Spray paint sits on the surface, and the first rock chip or salt blast finds a weak edge to lift. Powder coat is fused to the wheel. It resists chips, road salt, brake dust, and heat from the brakes themselves. It will not peel the way spray paint does, and it holds its colour for years instead of fading after one winter.
If you have ever watched a set of rims go dull, flake around the edges, or turn chalky after a couple of Montreal winters, that is liquid paint failing. Powder coating is the fix that does not fail the same way. It is the finish we put on wheels when we want them to last.
What It Costs
We are straight about price because nobody likes guessing. Powder coating starts at 295 $ per wheel. A full set of four costs less per wheel than coating one on its own, so most drivers bring all four.
What changes the number? Wheel size is the biggest factor — larger rims take more material and more time in the oven. The finish type matters too. A standard gloss or satin is the baseline. Metallic, candy, and two-tone finishes take extra coats and more cure time, so they cost more. The condition of the wheels plays a part as well. Heavily corroded wheels need more stripping and blasting before they are clean enough to coat.
If your wheels have TPMS sensors, we transfer them carefully and remount your tires after coating. That tire work is included in the set price. What is included: stripping, media blasting, powder application, oven curing, and tire remount. What is not: structural wheel repair. If a rim is bent or cracked, that is a separate repair we handle first — and we can do both in the same visit.

Colours & Finishes
The colour is the fun part. Gloss is the classic — deep, shiny, and easy to clean. Satin sits between gloss and matte, with a soft sheen that hides dust well. Matte is flat and modern, popular on performance wheels. Metallic finishes have real flake in the powder, so the colour shifts in the light.
Candy finishes are translucent over a metallic base, giving a deep, wet look that pops in the sun. Two-tone splits the wheel into two colours — usually a painted pocket with a machined or coloured face. Clear over polished leaves the bare metal showing through a protective clear coat, for drivers who want that raw alloy look without the corrosion.
We also offer colour matching. Bring us a sample or a code and we will match it. Custom colours are available, and we carry OEM-match finishes for drivers who want a factory look on a refinished wheel. Whatever you are after, we will show you sample panels in person before we commit.
More Than Wheels
Powder coating is not just for rims. The same tough finish works on anything metal that takes a beating. Brake calipers are one of the most common — a coated caliper stays clean and resists brake dust and heat far better than bare or painted metal.
We also coat motorcycle parts, from frames to swing arms to engine covers. Patio furniture that has rusted or faded can be stripped and recoated to look new and survive another decade outside. Bike frames, industrial parts, brackets, and fixtures — if it is metal and it needs a durable finish, powder coating is usually the right call.
