Every oil change starts with the oil and filter — your choice of synthetic or conventional — swapped for fresh, done to spec. That part is the easy part. The difference is what happens while it drains.

Your car is already up on the lift, so a licensed mechanic looks it over while the old oil runs out. We check the tires, the brakes, the steering and suspension, and top up the fluids that are low. You find out about a worn brake pad or a tire wearing unevenly while it is still cheap to deal with — not six months later when it has turned into a bigger, pricier problem.

That is the difference between an oil change and a quick-lube. You are not paying for a drain and a fill. You are paying for a licensed mechanic who actually looks at your car while it is in the air.

Oil changes start at $125, and that price covers the oil change and the inspection together — not one, then the other. You are getting both for one number, with no surprise add-ons on the invoice.

What moves the price from there is straightforward: your vehicle's make and model, whether you choose synthetic or conventional oil (synthetic costs more), and how much oil your engine holds. Larger engines and European cars take more oil, so they cost a bit more.

Conventional oil does the job and costs less up front. Synthetic oil costs more but holds up better under heat, flows faster in the cold, and lasts longer between changes. For a lot of drivers that trade-off makes synthetic the better long-term value.

Some engines call for synthetic by design — many newer vehicles and most European cars do. If yours does, we will tell you. If it does not, we will not push the upgrade. We carry both, and we will tell you plainly which one your car actually needs.

Most modern vehicles need an oil change somewhere between 7,500 and 10,000 kilometres, but it depends on how you drive and what oil your car takes. Short trips, cold starts, and stop-and-go traffic all work the oil harder than highway driving.

The best answer is the one tied to your car, not a generic number. When you come in, we tell you what is right for yours — and we will not bring it back early just to sell you another one.
